Scope of Works:
Description:
Heritage Restoration
Audley St George’s Place is a £30 million retirement village with 95 luxury cottages and apartments, located in the heart of leafy Edgbaston, just moments from Birmingham. The main house was a refurbishment of 3 existing Grade I listed dwellings and contains the main amenities.
The project included the complete removal and renewal of lime render and extensive repair on the other surfaces. Three coats of lime render, rough cast and with a lime wash. Elaborate plaster cornice was recreated to match existing using bespoke plaster mouldings where necessary.
Restoration of door surround and canopy including manufacturing of columns either side of the external door plus cosmetic repairs. Restoration of painted ceiling/dome and decorative cornices consisting of grisaille work, central dome gilded with crackle effect and antique aging glaze. The original ceiling also required ochre panels within trompe
l’oeil framework up to the circular acorn relief pattern.
The finished project showcases properties of outstanding design and quality. Here at Broughton’s we were extremely pleased to take part in this rewarding project.
